VRFY To Transform Public Safety and Boost Frontline Policing with Secure AI Transcription

Written by Christina Levada

VRFY Solutions Group UK Ltd., the AI-driven transcription and data intelligence platform tackling inefficiencies, security gaps and rising operational costs in critical services, has secured £200,000 in pre-seed funding led by Fuel Ventures. The investment will accelerate adoption within UK police forces, and lay the groundwork for expansion into sectors such as healthcare.

Founded by Jeff Meyers and Mike Willford, two veteran police officers with over 60 years of combined law enforcement experience, VRFY’s secure AI transcription technology streamlines the analysis of audio and video evidence. This best-in-market technology reduces transcription and report writing time by over 80% versus the manual processes used today by most  police officers, allowing them to get away from their desks and improve public safety. VRFY’s transcription solution reduces the costs associated with manual transcribing by 70%, enabling police forces to increase the amount of policing, without increasing budgets.

95% of all PTSD related sickness in admin staff is related to transcription, due to what are typically junior civilian employees having to repeatedly listen to traumatic and sensitive details for hours on end when manually transcribing information. VRFY’s platform helps mitigate the serious toll transcription can take on these employees' mental health, positions in which there is an over index of women, reducing sickness-related absence in the police force.

Jeff Meyers, Co-Founder of VRFY said:

“Policing is facing a perfect storm of rising workloads, officer shortages, and increasing demands for speed and accuracy. We’ve built a secure AI solution with end-to-end encryption and strict access controls that doesn’t just save time. It protects officers’ wellbeing and improves the quality and speed of justice, ultimately helping to improve public safety

“The latest funding will support VRFY’s continued growth and enable it to actively pursue opportunities to support other mission-critical sectors. The company is currently exploring tenders in other areas of high sensitivity where  skilled staff are being held back by archaic processing tasks. This includes the NHS where skilled nurses are burdened with paperwork, allowing them to focus on patient care -  a crucial goal during ongoing staff shortages.”

Mark Pearson, Founder of Fuel Ventures, said:

“AI-first businesses like VRFY have the opportunity to bring direct, real-world efficiencies to some of the most important sectors. In law enforcement, six hours can be lost to transcribe just one hour of audio, a stark example of the inefficiencies holding back critical services which VRFY are tackling head on.

“We invest in founders who can solve the biggest problems with skill and determination and VRFY is uniquely-placed to bring wholesale change to public safety and beyond.”
